My computer keeps shuting down. I have tried everything I know, restore etc. reinstalled antivirus and ran it. Any suggestions? It goes to either a black screen, colored screen with real narrow lines or just shuts down. My son was wondering if it would be the power supply. It is only six months old. As a matter of fact the whole system is just 6 months old.

Have you checked the "Power Options" in control panel? Having a bad setting there can cause the black screen, but shouldn't cause the colored screen with narrow lines.
Does your computer has a "power on" light. If so, does it stay on?
After your computer has shut down, does the cooling fan continue to run?
If you press cntrl/alt/delete, does the screen come back on?

Does your computer has a "power on" light. If so, does it stay on? Sometimes, I have come back and found the system "shut down" but the fan was still running and power lights were still on.

If you press cntrl/alt/delete, does the screen come back on? No, it does not reboot or anything. It is frozen. Lately I have found that the desk top is a bit distorted and frozen as well. Today the screen went black and then came back on with a slightly out of focused desktop, but frozen. This has happened three times today.

Walt, do you have the 'energy saving power' button checked. I was having same problem, discovered the 'energy saver" was shuting computer down.
