View Full Version : Moving towards parity?

I have lived the last decade of my life with the reality of a Can dollar that was worth far less than the US dollar.

I always had to be careful while in the States, because a $50.00 meal on my credit card would go through at almost $80.00 on my credit card. Buying online from the US was also something I avoided if at all possible.

What a difference in the last little while. Our dollar was at about .87 when we went down last week. If I was there this week, it would be even better since our dollar is at over .90 cents.

Analysts are now saying that we could soon be at par.

While this makes trips to and buying from the States better for Canadians, the downside for Canada is that a trip across the border isn't as economically attractive for Americans. Also, manufacturers that sell to the States are seeing less profit.

I am not an economist, but I have been watching this with interest.
