Thanks very much for your welcome greeting. I just found out from a friend about NazNet and have been enjoying reading the prayer and praise section. Brad Mercer ("I have cancer...probably terminal") used to attend our church in Richardson, TX and is a friend of mine. We are all praying for him.

Carolyn, I went to school with you at SNU. How fun this is to meet up with you online! I will make NazNet a daily fun habit.

Dearest Johnnie,
What a wonderful surprise to get a note from you! You have added a bright spot in my life today with your note. Johnnie Gayle when I think of you I have thoughts of a loving, kind friend, who always gives me such a warm feeling in my heart that I have been in contact with you.

I sure am looking forward to your being here with us on the "net"!

Lots of Love,
Carolyn

Hi. I am not brand new, but have not come here for quite a while.

What brings me back is a need for fellowship. My church is doing extensive construction, and the dust left over is too much for my asthma. So I've been feeling disconnected, and kind of depressed. (That also goes with asthma!)

I remember you, Carolyn, and your kindness, from when I was here before. Also many others.

I am grateful you're here.

Dear Grace,

I'm glad that you said hello and that you let me know that you are back. I'm looking forward to getting re-acquainted with you. I have been really busy with my husband being retired from Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer. He workd day and night and I told him that I had waited a LONG time to get to run around with him. He retired after 30 years of work at the age of 60.

Last year we got to travel to Germany and to Italy while our son was still in Germany with the Army. We went to Rome and that was a trip to remember for this girl who hasn't had many opportunities to travel out of our country.

Doug is busy with the gardening and I"m enjoying planting flowers and adding color to my yard.

Again, I look forward to getting re-acquainted with you. Thanks again for saying "hi' to me.

Hi Carolyn,

I remember seeing pictures of your garden at one time, I think when Judy was visiting. Rhodies, I think, is that right?

I have a tiny little garden, and am trying to get a few new things going.

Every year I look at the seed packets and come home with about 5 times many flower and vegetable seeds as I can possibly find a place for.

My grandson Ben (10) is in love with Pampas Grass! I'm thinking you must have that in Texas. It grows to a clump 8-10 feet high with big feathery things on the top. We are both growing little seedlings of it. Now where to put something that big is the question. I live in a townhouse, and my backyard is 8' x 15', and half of that is covered with a cement patio! I'm going to try planting mine in a large planter, hoping to contain it.

Blessing to you and yours.

thanks so much, GC, for your good southern hospitality! It is a wonderful privilege to belong to the NazNet family! I know there areso many who dont have a family, and I am sure it warms their heart to have someone welcome them! Its like welcoming a guest to come on in, put their feet under the dinner table, and make up a fresh bed for them for the night!
If I was at your house, Im sure I would enjoy all those veggies from the garden you have!

Carolyn,

Thanks for the welcome. And I won't call you Grandma, because you don't look old enough to be called that! I have been in a Nazarene church for almost three years now. We were Lutheran (ELCA) previously. I am a local minister, and have been taking District ministry classes. I've been posting at Beliefnet, but I need a place to have my faith affirmed, not torn down (another reason we changed churches). I'm looking forward to being here.

It is my pleasure to introduce myself as a new kid in the neighborhood! My name is Rance Gould from southwest lower Michigan. For whatever reason it has taken me about three years to finally decide to participate on NazNet. Not enough time is probably a very good reason. Lack of fellowship at church due to increasing health problems is the best reason for my finally joining NazNet. My heart is warmed by Grandma Carolyn's welcome message. May the Lord bless everyone real good. Rance Gould

Greetings to all,

I certainly hope and pray everyone is having a fine Friday morning. It's 8am here in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The weather man says we are headed for a cool down. I hope so.

You know what? I'm having a beautiful time since joning the fellowship at Naznet. From my first visit when Grandma Carolyn greeted me at the door and Han's and Ian's greeting I do feel very welcome here.

I do have a a question for our greeter. Fisrt, Grandma Carolyn, because I'm probably older than you, (I haven't peeked at your profile yet!) tell me what I should call you. Also, from what translation is the beautiful scripture from Hosea that appears at the bottom of your posts?

Thanks again everyone for the special place on the internet that feels so much like being in church.

God's blessings to you,

Rance Gould

Hi Tracy,

I just happened to log on before going out the door to leave on a trip.

We are going to visit our son at Ft. Carson, Colorado before he leaves for his second tour to Iraq. He leaves on August 28th. I haven't had time to request prayer for his safety while he is in Iraq. Maybe you could do that for me.
Remember us in your prayers as we are traveling from Texas to Colorado.
We are on our way now.

Thanks for posting to the Welcome Message. See, you are already needed at NazNet. I hope you find many blessings here as I have.

Rance, I haven't forgotten. But, I better go ahead and get back with you even though I can't find what version of the bible the quote that I like comes from.

I have the quote on a little card that I got at the Dallas District Ladies Retreat back in 1997. Jeannie McCullough was the speaker and the card is from her. Guess we are going to have to ask her the version that she got it from. :)

If you find out, please let me know, because now you have me curious.

My heart hungers to know the Lord more and more and I guess that is why I love the verse. He truly and surely does respond to us and keeps his promises to respond to us as we seek and hunger and thirst for Him.

I just don't think we can get to know enough of the Lord. Anyway, I'm not content. I just want to press on and learn more about Him.

You can call me Carolyn or Gc. The Grandma Carolyn is a name that stuck with me way back when I first came to Naznet. It was about 1996 or '97, I think. NazNet was pretty new and it was before we had to be registered or be identified with our complete names. Being new to the internet, I gave my name as Grandma Carolyn because I was fearful of talking to strangers. :) I told them I was a grandmother and that I loved Jesus and that was why I wanted to be called Grandma Carolyn. It stuck and when we had to be registered, since everyone knew me and my true identity is never hidden, Dave, said the Grandfather clause could apply to me. :)

What a story, huh? :)

Thanks for asking. :)

Hi Greg, I sure hope that you have found a comfortable place here at NazNet. It's not perfect, you know, how we all have to work at our relationships and relating. :) But, I think you will find enough people who will be the kind of friend to you that we all need to have in our lives.

God Bless you and use you to be a blessing to us, too.

Hello, Carolyn!

It's official... I'm finally registered after "lurking" here since the inception of NazNet! (I read the original postings the week NazNet launched in 1996...) :o

What a blessing to fill your pastor's pulpit in Mineola this morning, and then to get acquainted with you and your family over lunch! Rica and I feel we have truly expanded our circle of friends, and now I look forward to further expanding that circle here on the "cyber-church."

Blessings!

Hi Karl and Welcome to NazNet,

You and Rica made this such a fun day for me. It truly was fun getting to know you and Rica.

The expression on your face when I told you that I was Grandma Carolyn on NazNet was priceless! Then you told me that you have been "lurking" all these years that we have been "on the air" and I thought "yikes" he knows all about me. Then, I'm sure the expression on my face was priceless! :)

Dave, Hans, and all you "old timers" he knows you because he has been reading NazNet from the beginning.

I'll tell this much that I learned about him today. He is a Professor at LaTourneau University. He came there from Trevecca University.

He is friends with Jim Fitzgerald, so Jim I hope you find his posts soon and give him a big Dallas welcome!

Karl, I just stopped and went to read your resume`. It is very interesting.

I sure hope you have fun, because we don't want you to go home. Make this your home and help us to have fun! I know that expression is in reference to "work" as you and Doug discussed this afternoon.

Again, I'm thankful that Jesus has brought you and Rica into our circle of friends and to NazNet.

Hi! I just wanted to stop in and say hello to all my brothers and sisters this morning! It is so good to be a part of the family of God! I often try to imagine what it will be like worshipping and rejoicing around the throne of God together, casting our crowns at His feet and doing this for all eternity!
I often try to imagine what it will be like to be reunited with our loved ones who have gone on before us, and who are now, cheering us on in this journey! I have dear Dad and dear Grandparents who loved Jesus who are on the other side! I dont think I ever heard my Dad say a mean word to anyone in his whole life!
Now, we approach Easter, the time if new Life, and new life that Jesus has given us, I want to wish all of you, new NazNet posters and old NazNet posters alike a Happy and Blessed Easter!
I grew up on a farm in nw New York, we had over 1000 white leghron chickens and my Dad peddaled eggs in those days. But I remember buying the small chicks from the hatchery. They were so cute and I did get to watch as a few of those broke out of the egg shells using their tiny beaks to break out! My family, if God cares for the birds of the air and for these small chicks, whether they live or not, how much more must He care for you and I and whether we live, survive, live victoriously or not! All of my family, please remember that no matter how dark it is around you, God is there. He might be in the shadows, but He is there and one of these days He will step out into the bright sunlight in your life!
Have a good Lords Day and a good week!

And before Easter, there's Lent ... and for some reason, the church down the street came to mind as I read this post. During Lent [the local RC church], they have fish dinners on Fridays. Have to get there one of these Fridays, maybe?? Haven't all the years I've been back here, but tho't of it, since we did that a time or two in Phoenix.

Bob, what a joy to see this greeting from you when I came to NazNet today.

This morning we sang a chorus that I'm still singing in my thughts. "God is great, God is good, God is faithful. And no matter what the test He will give you rest." Yes, down through the years of my life, as I look back, I can really see how God has been faithful to me." What a wonderful assurances He gives us as we love Him and serve Him.

It's always good to see our old friends. Thanks, for saying hello here.

Hello Friend. You truly are a gem in my book. Thanks for your faithful testimony down through the years. It's always encouraging to me to see your posts of encouragement.

Now, I want some of that fish you are talking about.

:)

Hi Ken,

Thanks for stopping by as you enter the home of NazNet. I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, and hope that He does bless your fellowship here and that you do make many long lasting Chrisitan friends here.

Our son and his family live in NH. When we go to visit him we have traveled the New York Interstate from Buffalo to New York City.

A funny story on my "country boy" husband. Even if we do live near Dallas!

Just before getting on the toll road at Buffalo to travel east towards NH, Doug asked the toll booth person, "where does this road go to?" The toll booth keeper said, "New York City!" My husband just about fainted!! :) He could just envision driving through New York City traffic!:)

However we were happy to find out that we exited just before New York City.

When we go that route we always stop over at the Finger Lakes and stay in a beautiful resort hotel that we accidently found! We loved it and now always make a point to stay there when we are traveling up that way.

God Bless You!

Greetings, Arthur. Will you be spending time here at NazNet to get acquainted with us? To make friends with people here so we can know more about you on a personal level?

I'll check out your website, probably won't have time to be involved as time is of the essense and my time is already slipping away from me before I can get everything done that I want to do. God is good to us to give us so many wonderful constructive activities isn't He?

Did you mean Dave McClung instead of Don McClung?

Welcome to NazNet, Arthur, I look forward to reading your contributions to the community here.

This is an interesting idea. the size of the community really speaks to how much people are interested in this mode of communication.

Welcome Nathan! :) I have found it especially a blessing to me when we moved to this small town some thirty years ago because my husband's job and he worked out of here.

I had prayed when I found out that my husband wanted to change jobs and so I asked the Jesus to send us where he could use us. When doors opened for us to be here, it was like all we needed to do was walk through them.

I sure did miss the big churches and all the wonderful Nazarene Fellowship that I had experienced. It was like God sent us to the boonies and I felt like I was a missionary in my own Country. :)

So, I'm sure there are many here, who like me have discovered this means of contact and fellowship with our Nazarene friends that we need.

I look at it as a way that the grassroots can talk and communicate and learn from one another. So, more than a social need it meets many needs that we all have in common.

I am looking forward to reading your posts. Hopefully, you will find the wonderful fellowship and blessings here that NazNet does provide to so many.

Sorry, Jon, I should have put an "n" on your name instead of a "e". Yikes, this is really embarrassing to me.

I know how important it is to call a person by their correct name. I feel terrible. It just goes to show that I make mistakes. I don't catch them all and therefore they don't get corrected.

This is my attempt to fix one of my "boo boos".

I have been enjoying your fellowship on NazNet.

No problem at all. I am notoriously bad with names, and so I'm not at all offended if someone misspells mine.
