"Love Comes Softly," a Janette Oke book, made into a movie is on now. Looks like it might be good [tho' I've read a lot of books, haven't read that one]. It's directed by Michael Landon, it said.
It's on TCT [total Christian television] from the midwest, tho' I think it's viewable in several states other than the midwest. So, if you can get TCT, and like Janette Oke books ..............

Hi,
We've seen this movie. It also has two sequels now. They are good movies. You can tell they are low budget and some of the acting is not super professional. But overall they are good movies for families and friends. They are clean, have good morals, and are enjoying to watch. I recommend them and we were able to rent all three at the local movie gallery (video store).
If you ask me, books are always better than the movie. That's any book and movie, secular or Christian. Books are fun because we picture what characters may look like, imagine the details of the book in our own perspective, etc. The movie will always seem different compared to what we thought of the book.

Thanks for letting me know there were sequel books. Didn't realize it, even. ;) You're right, too, about books having more in them than the movies. But sometimes, I'm just ready to "chill out" and watch a movie, rather than read ... there's rarely a movie on TV [no cable here], and then usually not good. ;)

Michael Landon, Jr. Michael Landon died back in 1991.
(Celebrity deaths are always big news. His death was a cancer death about the same time my dad died of cancer so I remember it...)
I've seen the movie, by the way and was suprisingly pleased as its not a literary genre--Christian romance--I spend time on.

Whenever we have a 5th Sunday we have a movie night. The last two 5th Sundays we have shown the first two of this trilogy. We have the 3rd one waiting for the next 5th Sunday.
I was in Movie Gallery last Friday and they have the 3rd one on sale for $5. John ordered it and paid $21.
These are wonderful movies. Some of the Hallmark movies have been wonderful lately.

Actually, as I said, I've heard of her books, but not read this one [and can't think of another Oke book I've read, either]. 'Guess we wouldn't expect men to be interested in such books, usually, Wilson. ;)
'Know the first time I read such a book since a teen? 'Twas while still in Phoenix, not all that long after Danny died, and someone gave me a few Christian romances. 'Enjoyed them ... 'guess they were sort of cathartic when needed ..................
{oh, yes ... didn't tell you who the author of these books with which I was gifted was, did I? Debra White Smith ... Mamie White knows who this is, don'tcha, Mamie!? They were good ... well written. You see, Debra sometimes weaves mystery into these ... not just your "typical Christian romance book." I well recall one in particular that was what one might call a "Christian mystery-romance novel." ;) }

Oops! I knew about Michael Landon; either forgot to notice when they were running credits that it was Jr., or somewhere in my mind tho't it might just be old enough [they show very old ones sometimes] that it could've been Michael Landon #1, rather than Jr.... ??? Sorry about your dad, too. That's what took my hubby, Danny.
Thanks, anyway, for letting me in on the fact that it was Michael Landon, Jr. ;)

I have read the entire series and I found myself enjoying the movies as well. I bought the first two in DVD and will be purchasing the third soon.
I always enjoy books a lot better than the movies, but these were done fairly well.
I now wish that someone would think about making some of Lori Wicks books into movies. That is something that I would really enjoy.
