I was laughing so hard at this one that I inadvertently hit the 'praying' icon. After using the 'unpraying' option I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't have left it as is.

Large amounts of fried foods.
Fried clams, fried chicken, french fries, fried onion rings, fried scallops, fried rice, fried egg roll, and fried ice cream. Not necessary in that order.

A friend just invited me to lunch tomorrow at "5 Guys." Everyone is welcome! 12:30 sharp. The peanuts are free!

err, excuse my ignorance, but is "5 Guys" the name of a restuarant or did you mean a time: i.e. at "5", Guys.
If it is the former, than I've never heard of any place by that name out here. When the ministers in my neck of the woods meet for a fellowship luncheon, we usually meet at one of the church halls, although we usually have our annual Christmas breakup party at a fancy restaurant. Oh and yes I do remember a couple of occassions when we met at "MacDonalds"..... I remember this because I thought their coffee tasted terrible.

It's a good, simple burger joint. Well, a chain of them. Unfortunately, the closest one is over an hour away from us, so we don't have it very often.
Edited to add: I was wrong! There's a Five Guys about 40 minutes from our house, in the opposite direction of the other one. :)

Dave what Rich said. As Linus said, "That's IT!!!" Come to Keene and I buy you a burger but we will split one order of fries.
The fries orders are huge so the plan today is to split one. I will have the "Little Cheese Burger." Water to drink to make the whole meal a healthy one.

I have never known anyone who was certifiably doctrinally sound who didn't like fried chicken.

the closest one to me is in LA. :( It breaks my heart (while simultaneously probably saving my heart).

OK, was there a praying button here that got deleted? Had to ask, as I see someone in the first post who clicked the "praying" button which I don't see. ;)

We've got three within 12-15 miles. Don't know how they'll compare to In'n Out.

Look again. You've got 'em in Hillcrest, PB, Liberty Station and a couple of other locations I don't recognize.

The last time my wife and I were in California, we were disappointed by In'n'Out. A decade ago, their burgers seemed so fantastic. This last time... not so much. But the Habit won our hearts (and stomachs).
I've only had Five Guys a couple of times. It was good. But not "drive for 40 minutes" good. We have way too many good restaurants within 5-10 minutes to make that worthwhile. :) But next time we're in South Bend / Mishawaka, we might drop in.

Some things just don't stay the same, do they, Rich? Have been disappointed in places, too, after not seeing them for years. Oh, well ............. ;)

If I'm going to move into Five Guys price range, I'll probably wind up at Fuddruckers', except that I'm a sucker for the peanuts.

Haven't seen any Fuddruckers' since DFW area long ago. Are they even anywhere but TX?
Anyway, speaking price range as you do, makes me wonder if "Five Guys" also equates to about "Five Bucks."

We have fuddruckers in PA.
We've had them in Illinois and (I think) Indiana... though I haven't stopped in at one in a long, long time... so it's possible that they're not around anymore...

Suddenly I had a mental picture of pastors at a District Assembly congratulating each other by the "jump and bump" the way athletes do these days.

Something tells me that this thread may have been thrown out of a couple of forums before landing here. There is an identical thread title in the non traditional or post traditional forum. My guess is that the thought of fried foods binding pastors together is considered traditional. I guess that would make Dave P. a fundamentalist in that regard!

They can all sing "Blest be the tie that binds" by heart without the hymnal.

If anyone can take a picture of two or more pastors congratulating each othe with a "jump/bump" I would appreciate it being posted here.

The best thing about district assembly was our trips to eat at Big Boy! The Nazarenes all flocked there: no alcohol allowed. I just about fell over when I found out that a certain Nazarene church group met at a sports bar for Sunday lunch at General Assembly in Indianapolis a few years back. Whoopee!

Was it the Hooters where the famous picture of the B of GS was taken?
