Hello All,

I have a question about using video files (MPEG2 specifically) in Powerpoint presentations.

Sometimes when I insert an MPEG2 file into PPT to show as part of the slide
show, it does not work. When advanced to the slide where it is inserted, the
video will not play. We don't have this problem with MPEG1 files. Is this a
configuration problem, a hardware problem, compatibility problem, or a
memory problem? Is there something we can do to be able to avoid this
situation? We have a dual screen configuration, also.

Thanks for any help.

Hello All,

Curious ... have heard "forever" re MPEG3 ... what's the difference between that and this MPEG2?

I would think that the problem is in the codec (a driver for video files) not being installed on the PC you are trying to play the file on. There are quite a few of codec packs you can install to see if it'll fix your problem. You can grab one of them here (http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=1716&s=67). If this one doesn't have the specific codec required, you should be able to find another through Google. This (http://www.google.com/search?complete=1&hl=en&q=codec+pack&btnG=Google+Search) is the search I used to find the file I linked here.

To be honest, I'm not sure what the difference is . . . we use a lot of different video files in our services and only have trouble with .MPEG2's. These are generally files created by our Pastor using video software.

Garth,

Thank You for this information. I will definately give this a try. I doubt we have the required drivers at this point.
