The night before the big crash of 2010, I had spent over an hour reading the thread that was discussing whether Facebook would become the new NazNet.
I even tried bridging the thread to my Facebook wall. Well, let me tell you, as much as I have come to enjoy Facebook, mainly because of the contact that I have with my children and grandchildren, I began to grieve when I heard that NazNet had crashed and was gone with nothing saved. Oh, my, what a loss. Just like a house fire or when someone dies on us, we can't bring them back.
But, just like all tragedy's we pick up and carry on. So, that is what it looks like is happening here on NazNet.
To answer your question, Dave, "Will Facebook replace NazNet?" You are now seeing the answer! No, Facebook will not replace NazNet.
My first sense of loss of not having a NazNet was when I thought of the many years of learning that I have received from our Nazarene Theologians. That access to hearing them in debate and discussion has been a valuable tool in my spiritual and intellectual growth.
Today, I am saying a prayer of Thanksgiving for NazNet and all who participate and make it the family that we are.
