The Avatar is a characture of "Doc" of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

After I received my doctorate in 1988 the students didn't know what to call me: Dr Whitaker, Dr Whit or whatever. After some discussion it was decided that Dr Whitaker sounded too much like an old man (which I now am) wearing a tweed sport coat with leather elbow protectors on the sleeves.

We settled on "Doc". That worked.

After a time I received a doll of "Doc". I liked it and put it on top of my computer. It (he) stayed there.

So, that might explain my avatar.

However, I realize that it is probably not appreciated by some - but I like it.

Actually, "Doc," know what I think of sometimes when I see your name? 'You know Focus on the Family's "Adventures in Odyssey" radio program? Well, one of the main characters there is "Whit" ... Mr. Whitaker. ;)

Doc is a great term of endearment. That's my husband's nickname as well. It shows the esteem and affection with which you are held. :)

It's a terrific avatar.

Aren't you glad they didn't call you Grumpy or Dopey? Just kidding, just kidding.

Yep, I think I have seen almost all of the Odyssey videos. At first some students called me Dr Whit sorta like they call Mr Whitaker Mr Whit.

We've also been through all of the Veggie Tales with the grandkids. My wife showed some of them when she taught public school.
