This past weekend for Memorial Day in Salem NH they honored my nephew Bobby who recently died in Iraq.
They released white balloons for those who gave a Supreme Sacrifice for our Freedom.

Lori -
Thanks for posting.
I noticed the name above Bobby's - Benjamin Larason. I graduated from SHS with a Benjamin Larason, but I can't find anything through a Google News search. Do you know anything about him?
Thanks,
F&TC,

A peculiar thing happened when they released all those balloons. One of the newspapers had brought most of those white balloons and distributed them for people to release, in memory of all the veterans celebrated that day. One of Bob's family members also brought a white balloon with his name previously written on it. That family member chose to release that "named" balloon at the same time as everyone else did theirs. One of the reporters covering the event came to me and pointed out that as all the balloons were released, the wind carried them all in one direction, but that the one marked with Bob's name was carried an entirely different way. That balloon didn't go with the crowd of balloons, but went it's own way.
I suppose that the sun on the black lettering likely heated that balloon differently, and consequently there's a logical explanation. The reporter, however, kinda felt it was more significant than that.
I choose to believe she's right.
