We both enjoy home grown tomatoes however keeping them up off the ground is
not an easy task until I heard about this idea from several people. My brother-in-law drills holes in 5 gallon pails and then sticks his tomato plants up there. I seriously considered doing that, however, decided, rather to plant mine in the bottom of an already existing/growing flower - a hanging basket.

I planted it this past Saturday and so far? So good. In fact, the plant is already leaning toward the sun - growing upwards. YIPPEE!

In August we SHOULD have fresh tomatoes just outside our back door.

Nelson, you've just gotta keep us up to date on that little experiment.
That would be great if it works.
My problem is that the tomatoe plants that I like will grow to about 6 feet high.
That could be an interesting experience for me if I tried it your way.
