My son has been offered a job. He will graduate from college at the end of this month. But he's doubting if he should take it. He's asking advice. Read all of it at Edwin's blog (http://plunk.livejournal.com/196120.html) if you want to react.

Looking backwards, I now see that some things I tho't might affect "the rest of my life(!!)" would not have ... if I could start where Edwin is [agewise], with the knowledge I now have, boy, I'd [well, wouldn't we all?] surely do a lot differently ... and not worry, either, as he now is, that a year or two was "the rest of my life!" At that age, it can sometimes seem like this is so.
Also, if they really do "jam" at lunch, with Edwin's interest in music -- along with his thinking it would at least be challenging for a good while, if not forever -- sounds rather good, methinks. As one of the comments on the blog said [the only English one; rest were Dutch], the atmosphere is important.

After reading the blog my opinion is that Edwin would be "settling" for this position.
McKenna wrote that there are three questions to ask in a career decision:
1. What needs to be done?
2. Can I do it?
3. Do I want to do it?
It sounds to me like Edwin's answer to number 3 is a bit weak.

Inquiring minds want to know... What was his decision?

He turned it down, Wilson. He was too doubtful. And he's scheduling 3 talks with other companies now. He is absoluty in demand, the first 2 days after he posted his CV on a web site, he got 8 emails and 5 phonecalls!

Wilson, the latest news is that they called him back today and are frankly willing to accomodate to anything he wants, including working from home or parttime!
He's hard pressed to find any reason to turn them down :basic05
We'll know more in a few hours.

Congratulate him for me. Whether he takes it or not, it's great to be that wanted!
