For those of you who have done the college thing...

Authorization to pay other charges:

If there are any funds left over you may provide authorization to pay your outstanding non-educational charges.

Yay or nay?

Hmm, 24 views and no responses. Either you don't understand the question or you are just as confused as I am.

I authorized my school to use my aide for all expenses, and then if there were any surplus, to return it to loan issuers. But, if you're needing to use some or all of your loans for living expenses that are paid to a third party, don't authorize anything other than tuition and other current semester school expenses.

Thanks. So that means check no?

I would ask what they mean by "non-educational charges." Some schools consider things like administrative fees to be non-educational charges, and you want to be sure to pay those so you don't owe a few thousand come graduation. Others consider everything from tuition to books to your electricity bill as educational expenses/charges, so in that case you want to say no.

I'm sorry I can't help you with this. I sold a kidney and avoided this problem.
