Once I was straying in sin’s dark valley
No hope within could I see
They searched through Heaven
And found a Savior
To save a poor lost soul like me.

Death’s chilly water I’ll soon be crossing
His hand will lead me safe o're
I’ll join the chorus in that great city
And sing up there for evermore.

Chorus
O what a Savior, O hallelujah
His heart was broken on Calvary
His hands were nail scarred
His side was riven
He gave His life-blood for even me.

- Marvin P. Dalton, 1948

Brian Arner has a wonderful rendition of this on one of his CDs.

I get tears each time I hear it sung.

I love this song. My favorite rendition of this song was The Cathederal quartet, a southern gospel group which is no longer together due to the deaths of the founders of the group.

Thanks for posting.

But Nelson,
In Canada eh, we use the "U"...

Ain't that funny? We talked about the 6th last letter of the alphabet on the 6th month on the 6th day in 2006... do, do, do, do,...do, do, do, do,...

Nelson,
I love your pictures and songs.
We just don't hear them any more.
You have chosen beautiful ones to highlight.
Thanks!
