More details coming out.
It was revealed yesterday that those arrested over the weekend are accused (among other things) of being involved in a "detailed terrorist plot," which included plans to storm the Parliament buildings in Ottawa, take political hostages, harm hostages if Canadian troops did not withdraw from Afghanistan, and to attack media outlets including the CBC and a plan to behead Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Do we have any fighting troops here at home to take the Parliament Buildings back from the terrorists?
I don't think the allegations are "alleged"
Can you imagine if they would have gotten away with what they were planning? Our Capitol seized, Our Prime Minister and his cabinet all beheaded, CSIS crippled, Communications down, TSE destroyed for years, CN Tower falls over!
NAW! IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN IN CANADA...
I wish our politians would wake up and smell the roses before it is too late.

The very nature of an allegation is that it is "alleged". And we still live in a where everyone is innocent until proven guilty. So I will continue to refer to the charges as just that.
I am curious Mark. What would "waking up and smelling the roses" mean to you Mark? What more could our politicians do?
I think that they are very much aware of the issue. This was a two year investigation in which the various levels of government were kept fully informed. And the investigation was helped by the new laws and powers given to CSIS and the police for investigation of terrorists.
I think the fact that we were able to see this arrest BEFORE anything happened is a tribute to all levels of government and police forces working together.

Barbara, there is no doubt in my mind that they intended to do what they have confessed to doing. That is my opinion.
polititians lead Joe public to think that we as a country seem to be exempt from attacks. They want us to feel safe from any clear and present danger.
Yet as a country we openly harbour these terrorists. When their mothers say they are good little boys, we cave in because if we send them back they will be tortured. Well, so be it if they want to live that way... I have absolutely no remorse for a terrorist, or their mothers for that matter. They are all in it together.

I wasn't aware that they had confessed. My understanding is that they haven't said anything yet.
I don't recall any politican saying that we were exempt from attacks. To the contrary, I have read many warnings from CSIS and political leaders that Canada shouldn't expect to be immune.
However, part of their job is also to reassure the public. We can't live in continual fear of what might happen. That would paralyze our country and that is exactly what the terrorists want.
I agree with you that when it comes to individuals who are proven terrorists with terrorist agendas, we should have no sympathy.

In the Toronto Sun today, one of the accused Lawyers spoke on his client's behalf and confessed the whole plan.
I'm sorry, I do not have the forgiveness of Christ with terrorists.

Why should the terrorists care if they are caught, or killed? EIther way they win. What kind of havoc will they cause in jail?

Just to clarify, this news report does not say that the accused man has confessed. Rather, it says his lawyer spoke to the media and outlined the allegations that had been made against his client.
In jail they are being kept in strict isolation.

Wow, this brings it too close to home. We keep hoping terrorism is being slowed down, but there just does not seem to be an end in sight.
It is very scary when it comes home.
