In conjunction with Tom, Bob, Mark and DOC Outreach to Inmates I sent 15 copies of this excellent book into prisoners and chaplains with in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. We requested that the recipients review and let us know if they think it would work within the prison setting and how they might use it. Today I received the first of the responses.
David E. is a Christian and is or was ordained by some body and has some education. He serves his fellow inmates as pastor. David is currently serving life.
I received the book you sent me yesterday and read it in approximately 45 minutes. I was riveted by the context of the authors' consciousness and compactness of the "Greatest Story Ever Told"; the saving grace of Christ Jesus. Without wasting words, they laid out the plan of salvation in simplicity, directness, frankness and plain speech.
I commend and without hesitation recommend this tool to be used in the spreading of the plan of salvation. Rev. Oord and Rev. Luhn should (be) applauded, maybe even a standing ovation for their scholarly instrument to evangelize the "lost."
Thank you for the opportunity to send you my feedback on this book.
In His grip,
Rev. David E., Ph. Ed.
I thought some might be interested in the thoughts of someone working and living with those in prison.
