Saw this article today. Hmmmm. I sense a class-action lawsuit in the works.

Yeah, and it's even worse...apparently the web-based uninstaller that Sony originally provided to fix the problem, opens a huge security hole...it installs a control in the browser that ANY webpage (not just Sony's) can use to run code - including code that could do very bad thigns to your computer.
Sony is taking a real hit over this. They've agreed to recall ALL the discs with this rootkit on it....and the PR damage has to be immense.

I was once a Sony fan. Over the years, I have bought thousands of dollars of Sony products. About three years ago, I started noticing a change.
The first thing to change was their attitude toward customer service. I had a problem with their having charged me twice for the comptuer I bought. I finally had to contact their law department to get the error corrected.
Since then I noticed a decline in the quality of their products. The last computer and the last camera I bought from Sony were both lemons. They died about the same time the warranty ran out.
Back in 2001, Sony stock sold for more than $80 per share. This week, it was down below $35 per share.
It sure seems to me that Sony is on the wrong track.
