Maybe I am getting old and grouchy, but some things really irritate me. Here are two:
1. We were attending our son's ordination last week in California. The cell phone of a lady in front of us rang while they were announcing and ordaining the men and women individually. She answered it, too! Last year, I told a student to NEVER take one of my courses again if he was so important that he could not come to class without his cell phone.
2. I receive numerous emails from people seeking statistics, trends and other information regarding pastors. I usually will respond if it requires no research. If it does, I charge a fee. I received a request earlier today. When I responded via email, I received an automatic reply stating I needed to complete a form in order for my email be put on an acceptable list. I refuse to do it. He should have put me on his list in the first place.
You know, I feel better just venting a little.

I am pretty understanding when a cell phone rings at the wrong time. Anyone can forget to turn it off or silence it. It is inexcusable however, to answer it.

'Reminds me ... I forgot to turn my phone off at my uncle's funeral today. Good thing it didn't go off!
As for "I feel better just venting a little," I'll sometimes write to a friend or two, and add something like, "There! Now I feel better. Thanks for listening," letting them know there's no need to respond ... I just needed to "vent" a bit. ;)

I'm pretty understanding when the first phone rings. It's the second, third, and fourth ones that make me want to jump up and say, "Get a clue, people. Turn off your phones!"

I should clarify about the student's phone ringing. Earlier in the class another phone had rung. I reminded the class to turn off their cell phones. Later in the same session, another phone rang. That is when I went off on the student's feeling of importance. Funny, though. I never had that problem again in that class.

Why bother taking them to the woodshed? Shoot on the spot. Bah. Humbug.
