boneless skinless breast. 4 lbs of veggies. 2 big bags of green salad. 15 lbs of small red potatoes. That's the menu for "Joy In The Morning" tomorrow.
Once each month I cook for the Sr. Citizens at our church. It's actually open to everyone, but primarily Srs. attend. It's one of my favorite times of the entire month.
Transitions in the church can be especially difficult for the Srs. So, I like to make this time as special as possible.
We usually average between 40 and 50. One hour of songs and inspiration at 10:30 AM followed by lunch.
I'm in the process of bbqing the chicken right now!

Sounds like a wonderful ministry, Wes, and it includes lunch!! How good is that!
Wes, how are Janet and Warren ... vis a vis the current situation in East Timor?

Gord,
Thanks for asking about Warren & Janet. As I'm sure you have read/heard, East Timor continues to be in crisis. W & J are safe. The church has suffered considerably. Before the crisis the attendance was 100 and above. Now, with people having fled Dili, they are hosting 25 in worship. And, of course, they are praying for a return to calm so they can get on with their ministry. One of Warren's prayers is to be a part of the healing of the nation.
Continue to pray for their safety!

Wes,
I wish I lived closer to you so I could drop in for the meeting and the meal. That bbq chicken sounds good!:)
You didn't mention the fact that Warren and Janet are now both back in East Timor and are praying for things to quiet down before they leave for home assignment (Formerly furlough) on August 1. I have a note here for when they will be at Bill Hunter's church in Illinois in September. I hope to go down to see them there.:fav18
Keep up the good work. Tomorrow as you are praying for the church would you ask the Lord to give us wisdom in plans for the future of Flint (Michigan) First Church of the Nazarene? Thanks. We have an interim pastor right now. The District Supt. had been filling in but needed to get back to his D.S. duties, so appointed the interim pastor.

It would be a powerful privilege to have you with us. The gathering today was outstanding. 42 present. Hymns. It's amazing how many of the people do not even open their hymnals...singing by heart! The meal was tremendous, if I do say so myself! They slickered out most everything and then took some leftovers home with them.
Glad to see your post and trust you are doing well. My prayers are with you and your church!

Wes
