Andrew Jackson May, U.S. Congressman was a member of the house military affairs committee and proudly annonced to the press in June 1943 that the Japanese were setting their depth charges to explode at too shallow a depth to effect U.S. submarines. This information was printed, after which the Japanese began using deeper settings.
Admiral Charles Lockwood, Commander of U.S. Submarines in the Pacific, attributed the loss of at least ten submarines and over eight hundred men to this thoughtless statement.
I think this is fitting today. Too much information in the wrong hands.
Any opinions
