I checked back in previous post to see if anyone had talked about this, and did not see one. I have read the book and do not think it changed my views, I thought it was an interesting book. My mother on the other hand, refuses to read it or even talk about it, but she will watch the programs that disprove the book. The Fact or fiction program if anyone has seen it. I would love to hear some other thoughts and opinions on the matter.

Hi, Sara. Welcome to NazNet.
If you use the NazNet search function (on the menu above) and search for DaVinci, you'll find several threads on the subject which you might enjoy reading.
I read the book, enjoyed the mystery, decided not to throw away my faith based on what was "revealed" in the book.
Actually, I'm not sure what it would take to destroy my belief that God desires a relationship with us and has revealed the way to that relationship through Jesus Christ. Certainly more than a novel and a painting. Whatever it takes has to counteract not only the living and active message of the Bible but 2000 years of testimony to the faithfulness of God and my own experience.
As several songwriters have put it, I've come too far to turn back now. I don't see that Dan Brown is offering anything nearly so attractive as the path the Bible illuminates.

Sara,
You'll have to do a search on the main forum. It came up more as a topic with regard to the movie than it did the book. That's why it's over there instead of over here.

A well written piece of fiction. Shake my faith??? Never.

The only thing good I can say about the book is that it was better than the movie. Too quick of a read and too predictable.

I think the clergy owes an everlasting debt of gratitude to Dan Brown's work. It furnished fodder for reams of sermonic material. And, conversely, Brown (and the people who made the movie) owe a similarly everlasting debt to the preachers and others who stirred up such a furor over it. It probably resulted in quite a few more people buying the book or attending the movie.
A real win-win situation.
