I've already gotten my letter from the VA telling me how lucky I am to be one of the 26 million, but this still leaves a lot of questions to be answered.
According to the VA, the person who took the laptop home wasn't authorized to do so, but now it is coming to light that he was.
Why did the VA Administration lie about it? It's bad enough that they had such poor security but to then crucify some unlucky civil servant for their lack of oversight is something entirely different. I guess they thought he would fall on his sword over it, but instead he producted the authorization for doing exactly what the VA says he wasn't authorized to do. In addition to answering for the fact that they allowed him to do it, someone needs to answer for the fact that they then lied about it after the fact.
