"The List" by Robert Whitlow is an entertaining Christian fiction book set in modern day, but rooted in the final days of the Civil war when a group of wealthy plantation owners who have seen that the south will fall meet to form a secret covenant group for the purpose of protecting their wealth. One old man of God warns them that God condemns their greed, and that the Lord "visits the iniquity of the fathers to their children to the third and fourth generation."
The rest of the book is set in current day when, upon the death of his father, a young man learns that his family is a part of the secret covenant list and shares in its vast wealth. Meanwhile, God is at work in his life through the ministry of several people, not the least of which is a beautiful young lady with a strong relationship with God.
The story is interesting, but pretty mystical. Not great theology, but interesting reading.
