Does anyone know if churches need to file 990-N forms?

Does anyone know if churches need to file 990-N forms?

My understanding is that the 990-N applies to organizations that have organized as 501(c)3 corporations. Local congregations of the Church of the Nazarene are covered by the denomination's filing.

An independent church would need to file.
