View Full Version : How about an RSS feed for just a Forum?

Is it possible with this forum software to do an RSS feed on the Forum level instead of just the whole site?
For example, I'd like to put an RSS feed of just the Technology Forum on my Yahoo start page.

Isn't this a vBulletin setting that can be enabled?

Good point, Adam. I think it is.

If you know how to do it, email me the directions and I will set it up. I don't know how.

This is what I was looking at: RSS Feed Manager (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/rssfeed_manager)
Since I've never been "under the hood" of vBulletin, I'm not sure how you get there in the configuration pages, but...

That has to do with having rss feeds posted to threads, like having a forum for the latest news, and then having the feed of some news organization appear as posts to that forum.
Thats the opposite direction from what you are talking about.
I think.

Yeah, you're right.
Actually, I think the feeds by forum already exists. Check this out:

So if the Technology forum has id=20 then the direct link to it would be:
http://www.naznet.com/community/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=20
It works, but it's empty -- at least for me. Maybe there's a setting for that.

Apparently, it is all up and running. Point your browser to:
http://www.naznet.com/community/external.php?type=RSS&forumids=10
and you can subscribe to the tech forum there.
At first, my Firefox only gave me a "live bookmarks" dialog when I did that. I went to Tools>Options>Feeds and ticked off the "show me a preview and ask me" option. Now when I go to that url I get a RSS view of the forum and the option to subscribe via whatever service I use.
My IE went straight to the second option.

Perfect! That's what I was wanting. I'm off to register it with Google Reader. Thx!
