Did a review on the old forum but that one is gone and I watched the movie again last night. Moved me again too.

Now obviously there's a lot of stuff there that doesn't fit a Christian view of the world beyond death. The dualism, reincarnation, almost complete absence of God, just to name a few.

But the idea that heaven and hell are to a large extent that what you create yourself, and regarding hell, in which you can get completely stuck, at least aligns with C.S. Lewis' ideas on the subject.

And the grand theme, a love that would give up heaven in order to save one in hell, is definitely Christian. As is the idea that when you feel you lose everything, you may actually win everything.

I guess what appeals to me as well is that with my admittedly very limited and in fact sheer human view of what heaven is to be like, I simply cannot imagine it without Hannie. And she's also a painter.

Oh yes, I think both Robin Williams and Annabella Sciorra play their roles very well. Especially the latter manages to pull off both the exuberant joy and suicidal depression her character needed very convincingly.
