Soon to be here, reminding us, if we have forgotten, those who gave their life, those who may have been taken out so fast, that they didnt know what it was all about.
A person can be shot in some places, and can still heal. A person can be hit, punched, stabbed and still heal. But when you break their heart, take away the most precious possession they have like an innocent companion, it is so much harder to heal, and often leaves a hole, a void in the heart of the survivor. Ahhh, we like to act as though nothing upsets us, but the truth is, we are still human, still have feelings, still have dreams. Its hard to forget those who reached out to take our hand in troublesome times, or those who threw their arm around us during the storm, or those who whispered the message, "I know you can do it" in our ear, or the one who simply gave us a goodby kiss before work and a "I love you." Who knew on 9/11 that some received these intimate words for the last time?
Who knows where the road ahead of us leads? Who knows what tragic events lay ahead for all of us? Who knows the sorrows, heartaches, the unexpected, the physical setbacks that we may meet? After all, we are all made out of the same stuff! Maybe the smile you give someone will be their last before they meet their Maker. Maybe that kiss you give your spouse will be the last, and you will never see them alive again. Maybe that squeeze and love that you give your child will be the last loving pressure they feel before they are snatched out into eternity. Im not being morbid, just facing reality.
Seems to me we should live each moment as though it was the last one. Seems to me we should make each short minute last as long as we can. Seems to me we should make the best that we can of every hour, making it count as though it was the very last hour of our lives. For one of these hours will be!
For every one who lost a loved one, for everyone who has been left with shattered dreams, for everyone who still today has a broken heart, I say, "I love you" and I send my prayers and support. We will not forget you, we will not forget the darkness you are walking through, we pray that you will see light and happiness again as soon as possible. We dry the tears that stain your cheeks, we comfort your emotionally tired bodies, we try to sooth the inner turmoil that still rages inside of you.
Now, we were again threatened, the enemies hatred again has opened the wound in our soul. They have rubbed salt into an already festering sore. This will not stop us, slow us down or cause us to quit. It will only unite us, inspire us to fight the good fight against hatred, malice, envy, rascists, and those who only desire to kill our very soul.
............and, its not only our own power in which we fight....there is One who fights with us, who is Mightier than we.....
