Rather than me spending days hunting for threads we've had on Communion and the Sacraments, can some of you who have started them or participated in them give me links?
The lady that works with us is on a committee writing a new constitution for their Baptist Church. They have been hung up on the Communion issue for several meetings and it reminded me of the discussions here. I'd like to share some of the treads with her.
The debate there isn't much different that what we've experienced here at times.

The "search" opton should help you find the threads.
I'm not sure how their discussion would be the same. Most Baptists I know practice closed communion, which means you must be member and in good standing of that local church. Some even forbid other Baptists from other congregations to participate in their local communion.
To me this closes the discussion of the openess of God's Grace and communion as a "means" of Grace rather than a ritual or "right of membership".

I'm not sure it will help, but I was trying to explain that things are no different with Baptists than they are with Nazarenes, this is a very emotional and sometimes divisive issue.
The open vs closed communion is one of the things they are struggling with. There are people on the committee who set on both sides of the fence.
Oh yea, the search option: duh. Thanks

The Baptist churches I have been associated with in years past do not practice closed Communion. I was shocked when I learned that some do.

I saw a pastor call people up by families and had them feed bits of the whole loaf to each other. Once we saw this done in a small church where they went to people that they needed to get things cleared up with, and it had great results.
I know one pastor who had the communion in the dining hall and ate orange slices.
I know that these instances are not the threads that you wanted.
