I don't remember where I found the link, but I thought this was a pretty good speech. A worthy topic, at least.

On video it is here (http://www.barackobama.com/media/call_to_renewal/), but somehow, the sound does not work for me today.

I could vote for a Democrat like Obama.

Just checked the site again and the video is good, it can also be downloaded.

Anyway, I'd recommend listening to it rather than reading the transcript. The speech is better by far on video.

that's beautiful, every human being deserves the right to approach/find God on his/her own volition.

I truly am glad Obamas mother chose life.

thanx for sharing that Hans.

Barak Obama is by far the best the Democratic Party has at articulating the actual positions of the party in a way that directly connects them to the moral and spiritual values and aspirations of Christians and resonates on an emotional level.

To be true to themselves, they don't need a liberal nominee trying to pass for a moderate, and they don't need a liberal nominee attacking religion or patriotism, and they aren't going to nominate a genuine conservative or moderate (ie, anyone who supports any actual war, or who supports any restrictions on abortion). Those positions seem to represent core issues for the party. So what they need is someone who can do what Barak Obama can do, as well as he can do it, and no one else does.

I see him being the next Democratic president of the United States after 2008.

Brad, You did not say how far after 2008. Maybe 2024.

I think you are going to have to wait for Fred Thompson to serve his two terms after 2008's one term Democrat flounders in the wast lands.

Fred has not gone away, he is just not doing an over kill on his name and ability.

I don't think Fred Thompson will ever be president. He's not conservative enough to get through the GOP primaries, and he's essentially unknown outside his home state, except as a bad actor. I know that worked for Reagan, but I just don't see Thompson rising to the top.

I think 2008 is too soon for Obama, but I think if the GOP wins in 2008, he'll be the Democratic nominee in 2012.
