For several years it has been the tradition of our Zone to conduct a Crusade/Revival-type gathering once per year. This year we changed and asked some people to come in and share some leadership principles with pastors, church board members and other local leaders. The attendance was very satisfying and the spirit of the gathering was outstanding. It's hard for me to overstate the value of this meeting.

Some reasons...

1. Our new Interim DS, Dr. Keith Wright, was in attendance. His presence and input was very encouraging to everyone. We know that we have our work cut out for us during the next several months and it is quickly and clearly apparent that God has shown favor on us by giving us Dr. Wright's leadership here on the Washington Pacific District for several months ahead. Liz was with him and she is a delightful partner!

2. David McClung was one of our presenters and did a tremendous job of helping us see the importance of wise organizational development on the local level. I had no doubt that he would do a good job, by hitting for extra bases. Interestingly, he hit the ball out of the park! One of the things that was perfectly obvious was that he had great credibility with the pastors and lay leaders. We are truly blessed to have Dave as a leader on our district (DAB).

3. There were a couple other presenters...Dick Halverson and Rich Carroll. Dick is a dynamic and enthusiastic layman in our Vancouver 4th Plain Church of the Nazarene. He spoke on the subject of leadership development. Rich is the Director of Peace Connections Ministries in Vancouver and spoke on the need for Christian reconciliation. All the pastors were given a copy of his book, "Is Christ Divided?"

A day very well spent!
