Tonight, about 7:30 p.m., I went out to lower our flag. As I looked up at the flag, a bright object moved across the sky. It was too fast to be an airplane and too slow to be a meteor. When I came in, I told Linda that I had just seen a "shooting star." I assumed it was probably some space debris.
Now, on the 10 o'clock news, it is the talk of the town. King 5 TV station has several videos of the UFO. The station said it got many, many calls from people wondering what it was. The TV station has checked with the Air Force and other sources that should know. So far, it is still a "UFO."
Now, I am wondering what I saw.

You mean you didn't have your camera ready?

Boy, I don't know, Dave! First "cat scans" ... now a UFO ... do you perhaps need another college to lead ... or corporation to run ... to occupy your time, so hallucinations of this sort don't have time to worm their way into your mind? HA! 'Just teasing, of course! :basic05
Next time, use all three hands, and have your camera ready for such a time as this! hee-hee

Looks like a big chunk of rock crashing through our atmosphere. It will forever be a mystery.
Either that, it is the return of Superman!

We've seen space debris flying very low and very fast right over our car. It was very bright and fizzled out quickly. We see this type of stuff often out here in the boonies.

Now, I am wondering what I saw.
I see that the FAA has said that it was sun light shining on the contrail of a high flying aircraft. That might be true for the photo, but it wasn't what I saw.
My best guess is that there was a large meteor about the same time that there was a contrail. Some people saw one others saw the other.
I had a camera close by, but the streak I saw was too fast for me to capture with a camera. It moved across the sky at a rate that I would have had to have a camera pointing in that direction. The folks who took video saw a different event than what I saw.

Well, you have to guess it was something other than sunshine eh!?
Just by the explanation given...

I'm sure the green-alien-believers are NOT going to take the explanation of the government to explain the phenomenon. I've read science fiction :)

I am not a green-alien believer, but I don't accept the explanation either. I believe the aliens are orange.

People say it is the height of arrogance to not believe that there is life out there somewhere. Obviously I can't, nor can anyone, really know. I'm pretty confident of this though, we have never been visited by any alien life form and life on other planets is an irrelivant diversion. I doubt in the next few hundred years humanity will be able to go beyond this solar system and it is certain that there are no examples of life on any planet or anything else in this solar system. The vast distances of the universe make travel through even our galaxy an impossibility for anything other than science fiction, of which I am a huge fan, so the chance of a definitive answer is remote -
Having said all that the video on that news clip is not sunshine - it may be digitally altered or prepared but that is not a video of sunshine.

Anymore if I see something like that and I know we have a space shuttle up, I pray it isn't them.

You're both wrong, they're pale blue.

Here's a picture I shot several years ago. Elvis and JFK were flying it.
