How many people had plans and dreams of what they were going to do with their lives, only to have them broken into a thousand pieces these past few months. I am speaking of Israelis, who are now facing the rubble where once stood their home. According to a few, there has not been this much destruction wrought on Israel soil since the 1948 War of Independence. Purhaps there were some who dreamed of being a successful business man, a Rabbi, or even a market owner, but now they will have to spend that time and money rebuilding their lives literally from the ground up.
6000 homes were hit by rockets, many of which were destroyed or need extensive repairs.
630 acres of forests burned and 6200 acres of grazing land were torched.
Dozens of schools, community venters, homes for the aged and day care centers have been badly damaged.
The prosperity that Israel built up over these past few years is threatened.
630 factories have been closed.
With losses totaling 2.22 million, the tourism industry has been decimated.
The war cost Israel some 5.3 billion.
Estimated damage to the economy totals another 1.6 billion.
4,262 civilians were injured and another 2,773 were treated for shock.
500,000 Israelis were displaced and in internal exile within their own homeland.
1 million Israelis were forced to live in bomb shelters.
(note: Most of the newer homes in Israel now include a bomb shelter.)
4,000 rockets have rained down upon the nation of Israel.

All this because, they are fighting terrorists, those who wish to annihilate them, wipe them off the map. Just remember, Human loss and suffering in Osrael continues after headlines have faded.
