Marsha,
I too use crackers in my meatloaf. I like it so much better than using bread crumbs or oatmeal.
That sauce is interesting...I will have to try it.
Meatloaf is one of John's favorite meats.

That sauce is very good. It is like a really good bbq sauce. When I poured it over the meatloaf I thought it would be ruined because there was so much of it by using 1 cup of water. As the meatloaf bakes, the sauce is absorbed into the meatloaf. I promise you it is really good.

I add all of those indgredients to my meatloaf, except the vinegar and water. I like ketchup ontop.

Marsha,
I tried out your recipe last night and my family loved it. I have been using "Hunt's Meatloaf Fixins" canned sauce but the grocery store I normally shop at doesn't always have it on the shelf. I would have to go to another grocery store that does carry it all the time but their overall prices are much higher. It was a pain to go to that store just for one item. I have a very small pantry so it is not always easy to keep too much in stock. I pretty much always have all the ingredients on hand listed in your recipe. All I had to buy was the ground beef! Thanks so much for sharing your recipe.

Marsha
Yes I am. I am are rarely in the forefront of things like Carmen. Most people are surprised when they find out she has a sister.

I knew she had a sister. Carmen and Jeannie spent the night at my house in 2000 when we had the naznet ladies retreat. My Mother, Carmen and I sat in our living room until 2am putting together goody bags. We have been friends ever since.
So glad to see you post. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Marsha -
Is this a "dry" or "wet" meatloaf. The reason I ask is I cannot stand "mushy wet" meatloaf. It gives me the impression it is not finished. However, dry meatloaf I LOVE. LOL

I love meatloaf but can't have wheat or flour. So crackers and bread crumbs are a no - no.
Has anyone found a good substitute?

I have not tried them, but what about instant potatoes.
I use them in many thing that I want to be thicker. Maybe they would work in a meat loaf. I really think they would. Guess I will try it.:)

You can use oats.

Yes, oatmeal can be used instead of bread or crackers. Most schools and restaurants use oatmeal.
In the past I have used some variations:
1. A can of vegetable soup instead of Ketchup in the mix
2. A package of onion soup mix instead of salt and pepper and onion. (this is really good)
3. Top it with 1/2 can of cheese soup(no water added)
4. Add a cup of uncooked rice and form into meatballs...called porcupine meatballs.
