I recently read Keith Drury's "There's no 'I' in church." In it Drury deals with the fact that we are the bride of Christ. He makes the point that Christ doesn't have many brides -- just one -- and that is the Church.
The rest of the book is about how Christ is going about making the Church into the "without spot or wrinkle" that will make the Church worthy to be his bride.
He says that one great hinderance to our Lord's achieving that work is that we resist by insisting on being individualists.
I appreciated the book and I recommend it.

I have really enjoyed this book. Over the years I have gotten a lot of good out of books on the personal spiritual disciplines, especially Richard Foster's writings. This book takes the disciplines from the "Church" point of view.
Basically, it deals with how the church is the Bride of Christ, and how it is that Christ is going about making us, as a whole, a church without "spot or wrinkle." He does that by making the church into a community, through our praying together, and in other ways.
One interesting point is that the Lord's prayer cannot be truly prayed "solo." All the language is that of the group: "Our Father" - "our daily bread" - "our debts." Clearly, Christ expected that the Church would stress praying together.
I thought some might like a bit more information on what is a neglected subject in our Westernized version of Christianity.

Thanks for posting more, Scott. i don't have time to read a large genre of books at this time. So, book reviews such as this allow me to not feel left behind in the world of books for body life in the church.
That is a very interesting thought. i have never heard that before.
This sounds like a book that i would really enjoy reading.
