A friend of mine went for a routine checkup a couple of weeks ago, and the doctor saw some things with his colon that were a cause of concern. They did a colonoscopy and my friend has colon cancer. After further examination and meetings with the oncologist, they found the cancer has spread to his liver.

John in in very good spirits and absolutely believes that he's going to beat this. And if not, he's at peace that he'll just get to heaven before most of the rest of his friends. Still, this is a very scary time for those of us who know and love him.

Your prayers are appreciated...for John, his family, and his friends.

I'm sorry to hear this Bruce. The moment in time when you get a cancer diagnosis...it changes everything in your life.

I will be praying for your friend.

Our prayers are with you and your friend, Bruce. I know how scary this news is. Our son had colon cancer when he was 24 which is very unusual. They removed 6" of his colon and (praise the Lord!) he's been clean ever since. He's now 35.

Lord, You know Bruce's pain for his friend John and the struggle that is ahead of them. I ask that You annoint them with Your Spirit filled blessing of love, comfort and guidance for this time of trial. But also give them that Peace that passes all understanding for You have promised in Your Word that You would not test us or allow a trial to come our way with out providing the Grace to overcome. Thank You most precious Heavenly Father for Your Healing Power and Love. In Your Son's name, Amen.

Bruce, I have prayed for a couple of days, a few times each day, for your friend. Keep us posted on how he is doing. I think we need to pray for his family for this must be especially hard on them.

More surgery on Thursday (tomorrow) and chemo starts next week.

Knowing John, I think the hardest part for him has been his wife and sons asking his friends to stay away. They are right, of course, but John's too gracious to say anythihng. He is very tired right now, and the response from his friends was overwhelming, and it was exhausting him.

Thanks for all your prayers.

Here's what Susan wrote in her last note:

We have a wonderful family and terrific friends and pray-ers all over with numbers extending around the world, in many churches, in more prayer groups than I can count - we are blessed.

God has sent all of you to us - He gave us the best!

God bless you in your faithfulness in our lives,
Love, Susan

Thanks for being among the "unknown pray-ers"
