I heard Haggee say today that in the time of Hitler, the Pope greeted Hitler by going to his knees and bowing.
Do you believe this???
Hope I spelled Haggee correctly.

Reason 1: I assume that Hagee is full of it unless proven otherwise. He has about the level of credibility of Pat Robertson.
Reason 2: For all the talk about Pius XII (pope during WWII) being in cahoots with Hitler, Jews seem to think otherwise and have for decades honored his efforts to protect Jews during the Holocaust.

I've looked around the Internet a bit trying to find out something. I haven't found any mention of Pope Piux XII ever having a meeting with Hitler. There are numerous pictures posted on various sites of Catholic officials in close proximity to Hitler.
Keep in mind that Hitler came to power in 1933 and WWII didn't begin until 1939. Although admired initially by some and considered dangerous by others, he wasn't consided to be a full-fledged madman until the extent of his atrocities was known. Early on, it would not have been considered improper for any official to have met with the Chancellor of Germany.
I'm no expert on Catholic tradition, but I sincerely doubt that proper decorum for the Pope would include him bowing before anyone. Meeting - possible. Bowing - I sincerely doubt it.
