I don't know him personally, but he has been to our church for a concert and I have some of his tapes. He has a fantastic voice.

Paul Pitts?

Yes, I know Paul Pitts. He is one of ENC's most famous alumni.

As an aside, I once lived in a house that was built for Paul Pitts' grandparents. Paul's uncle, who's name was also "Paul", was the pastor of Lake Charles, LA First Nazarene. When Rev. Pitts' parents reached retirement years, the church built a small cottage behind the parsonage.

Years later, my father became the pastor of Lake Charles First. When I returned home from Bethany Nazarene College, I was allowed to use the cottage as my home.

Nearly thirty years ago, Paul was music minister when I was youth pastor at Cambridge, MA, First Nazarene. We were last together a few years ago at an ENC function. He was on the platform and I was pretty far back in the pews.

Thanks for the comments about Paul Pitts, Dave. That is unique about the house you lived in. We had a WONDERFUL time, and enjoyed two services very much, with Paul singing and talking and praying for various prayer requests. This was our first year to attend the retreat for retired pastors and wives. Paul certainly made it a landmark treat for us.
Of course. Bro. Johnson and Genell were there. He was either our DS or GS for over 20 years. Dr. Middendorfs elderly parents were present, Dr. and Mrs. Hendershot, also. He is the one that invited Dwayne to the Tennessee District. It was good to see the wife and daughter of Ben Marlin. He was the DS in SC when Dwayne and I married. In fact, I typed his report at the last assembly in Sumter, S.C. before we married in March of 1959
I could just go on and on. I had some prime time with a dear friend, Jane McCullough Cantrell. She has certainly experienced a lot of heart aches. She sat down and discussed the latest one, besides her cancer with me, saying I was the only person that she had discussed it with. Jane needs a lot of prayer. The cancer is in her thyroid now.
We enjoyed eating with Bro. Beals, a former missionary. We had sat with him and his wife a number of times during campmeeting in June.
And, we always enjoy being with Dr. Broadbooks, our DS, and Carol.
I just can't remember to mention everyone that was there, that helped make the retreat such a pleasure.
It was sort of like the Prime Time one that we go to in April.
Oh yes, Dr. Milliard Reed and Barbara were there. They use to be a lot of fun at P+W Retreats. Dwayne loved seeing Bro. Ray Dunning and his wife, and many, many others.
You all know what these wonderful times are like--and God was so near.
Dwayne tried to get me to stand up when Paul Pitts was praying for the healing of those that badly need a physical healing, but I didn't.
The night before, I did stand up and told about the situation in Gulf Port, Mississippi.
Isn't God and his people precious?

Paul Pitts sings at our church at least once a year. His brother lives in Gardendale, Alabama. He has a great testimony, not to speak of a very special voice. He represents the Nazarenes well.
