We are in Fort Lee, VA awaiting the return of our son from Iraq. He was to be home the 5th, then the 6th, then the 7th, then the 8th....and now he will arrive at 1 a.m. Monday.
I have called and changed reservations 4 time and arrive her and wait.....
In the meantime, my mother is taken to the hospital with pneumonia. I will leave here and go to Ohio and stay with my mom several weeks to help her recover.
Last night, in a motel in Bristol, VA, I tuned into Dino's show....the Christian pianist. He had as guests a Bluegrass group, The MCKameys. I do not care for bluegras, but they sang a song that the Lord used to bless me and encourage me......
"WHEN THE JOURNEY TAKES A DETOUR.......
I WILL TRUST YOU, LORD, WITH MY LIFE."
God cares about us as individuals. He knows just how to reach us.

Barb, I am sorry for the frustrations you and John are going through and will remember you and your family in prayer.
I had the privilege of sitting at a table and chatting with the McKameys a couple of weeks ago. Every time I am around them I am impressed by their good spirit. I told Peg that I was always impressed by their song selection -- that their songs very often have a strong theological message, almost like Charles Wesley's did. She just smiled and thanked me.
I know that there are better singers out there, but I don't know of any gospel group that ministers better than they do.
One interesting thing is that Ruben Bean teaches Sunday School in his home church -- and even though they are a very full time gospel group they very seldom miss being in their home church for worship on Sundays.
By the way, they aren't really bluegrass -- they are pure Appalachian Gospel! In the same class as the Inspirations.

I can't imagine what it must be like as parents to wait for a son returning from war. My heart goes out to you.
And I have a CD somewhere that has the McKameys, I think, singing a song called "God on the Mountain" that I love. They get the crowd shouting like in the old time campmeetings of my childhood.

Hey, Brad (yeah, took another break) ;)
That "God on the Mountain" ... 'talking about the one that says something like, "O, the God of the Mountain, is still God in the valley,
"When things go wrong, He makes them right.
And the God of ................................ (forgot!)
is still God in the night."
If that's the one, I just LOVE that song! Heard it "eons" ago, and have heard a couple of other people singing it since the first ones I heard (seems like some Greens, or other, sing it).
