We just took the teens from our church to see "Facing the Giants." This movie was wonderful! I think it is a miracle that it is even playing in regular theaters because it is so overtly Christian. It has a great message and is safe for the entire family. I highly recommend it.

But on campus - not at the local theater - during the summer sometime - premier showing, etc.

It's a delightful, heart warming story, and I'll not give the story line/plot away.

However, I feel like I need to say this.

And I almost wish there would have been a "disclaimer" at the end of the movie. . . to this effect.

"All of our prayers do not always come to pass. But we can be assured during those difficult times that HE knows what is best for us.

The real key to a successful happy life is to trust Him completely regardless of what happens. For happiness comes from happenings, but joy comes from Him."

Okay - getting down off my soap box.

For now.

Nelson: you said - "All of our prayers do not always come to pass. But we can be assured during those difficult times that HE knows what is best for us. "
But all of our prayers do come to pass. God always answers our prayers, we just may never see the answer in our life time. God will say yes, no or wait. But he does always answer. If he didn't why else would we keep coming back to him more and more and over and over.
Just some thoughts as I read your posts.

Maybe I have an unfair advantage (I recently taught our SS class on the subject "The ________ of Unanswered Prayer.")

May I give you an example of an unanswered prayer?

My godly grandmother prayed for YEARS that God would save her four wayward sons. They lived far away from Him - never darkened the church door, etc, which broke her heart.

And then I heard my mother pray, countless times, about her four lost brothers.

All four of them died without ever seeking Him as personal Savior.

Why were those prayers unanswered?

Because God will NOT violate our freedom of choice.

He will bring reminders - people - even angels, sometimes - across our pathway, however, He will not make us seek Him and His saving grace.

Did those four uncles find Him?

Unless it was one of those death-bed confessions that I was not aware of (and I attended their funerals), the answer is no.

Sad, but painfully true.
