(I attempted to get an answer at the tech board w/o success, so here goes)
At one time, here at NazNet when I would begin typing in the TITLE: section above for a new thread
"The Haven of Rest"
EVERY previous posting - hymns I have posted here before - that began with "The....."
Such as "The Old Rugged Cross" "The Way of the Cross Leads Home"
etc
would pop up.
And THAT feature told me I had already posted that hymn before.
(Does that make sense?)
Well, regardless, some how, some way, that is no longer happening here within NazNet.
So here's my question. Is that a NazNet feature or Firefox (my browser) that is no longer tracking/keeping a memory of what I've posted previously.
Can anyone help me?
(with the above issue, I mean)
:)
If you think you've got THE answer and want me to check some options/features, please give me clear and concise instructions.
My half-brain is tied behind my back.
Thanx

Nelson,
I believe it is a product of firefox. It has to do with saving data on forms. Have you cleared your cookie cache recently - no, not the one in the kitchen!!
It can also be in the Tools -> Options -> Privacy block -- if you have set it to clear forms/cookies when you exit firefox, this would also maybe cause this.

Sorry, however, when I go to Tools/options/privacy - as suggested - there is no option to clear forms/cookies when I exit Firefox, unless I'm dumber than dirt.
Which I are.

Bottom right there is a "settings" button - the option is there under Settings -- Clear Private Data when closing Firefox. At least in my version: 1.5.0.7

nah ... but you're older'n dirt! :basic05
Nelson, if you run some of those computer cleansers, like Adaware, Spybot, CCleaner, etc., they will clear your cache.
If you (totally shut down) turn off your computer, your cache is automatically cleared when you reboot.
Those little messages are stored in your cache, so that they only are available as long as they're still stored there.
There are any number of ways of clearing your cache, including through the "privacy settings" of Firefox. There are few ways of retaining those helpful little reminders, though.
Sorry.

I turn my computer off every night -- and this does not clear.

from what I remember, (I am old too lol) the new Naznet software no longer has that. I do remember that it did "auto complete" in the title box but it no longer does. It isn't firefox cuz it still works in most other places I visit, but it does not work here anymore.
My advice to you would be to look at your profile and all the posts you posted to make sure that you are not repeating them. You are right, Naznet did used to "auto complete" when posting a new thread or replying to an existing thread.
hope this helps
(btw, I can't use smilies anymore either, don't know if this is my prob or what)

I still see this feature, I use Firefox....so, I have trouble believing it was a forum feature...I could be wrong -- but,
Nelson, I updated my firefox to RC2.0. In this version, there is an option under Tools -- Options -- Privacy -- History -- Remember what I enter in forms and the search bar -- this option is checked. In the 1.5x versions, I think it was under -- Tools -- Options -- Privacy -- Save Form Options
Try looking there....

I have no idea what happened. I've not made any changes, but somehow, some way, things have changed. I am now seeing previous posts that begin with the same letter.
HONEST!
Okay, I'll hush.
till next time

yeah...right....the infamous "I know it wasn't something that I did" (this is usually stated while the person has silently plugged the cord back in that they had kicked out)-- glad to hear it is working again Nelson -- these things can be fun to trace down -- for about 10 minutes!

Nelson, here is why K....
The place where your, "Ts" are kept is your browser's cache. It can be set to hold an insurmountable amount of "stuff" such as all your "Ts"
When you reach the pre-set storage mega bits limit it starts to overwrite and start from the top again. That is why you see other "T" stuff coming up.
You need to set your browser's cache, or history memory to a higher limit to save more stuff.
Here is how: On your browser click Tools, Options, Click the privacy Icon at the top of that window, next click the tab at the right end called Cache. The default I think is 78.5 mb. Change that to the highest it will allow you to take. Mine is set at 150 mb. A quick test lets me save 10,000 mb.
Make sure that you do not have a setting that clears your cache upon exiting firefox. Mine is set up to do so.
You know what other program does this? Yup, Google search. There is no way to clear your Google Search cache as it is kept within Google. Scary eh?
Hope it works buddy....
