I always enjoy and am glad to see those arrogant Steinbrenner multi millionaires get beat and eliminated from further levels of the play offs. Our coach at Sun Valley Indian School, Coach Richard Zelinsky was a Detroit Tiger batboy back in the 70s.

It was a great series for the Tigers. So happy for them and Detroit. Our oldest son David was at the game.

for my remote control - one of His greatest inventions, BTW.
(You can smile here.)
I as flipping from the Tiger vs. UofM game all afternoon.
What a WONDERFUL sports day yesterday was for me and my still-MI-sports-minded family.
We'll all be grinning ear-to-ear in church today.
GO TIGERS!
GO BLUE!!

Sorry. I'll be rooting for the A's in the ALCS. But I do love the fact that Detroit took down the overpaid Yankees! Kudos!! AND, your Tigers - three years removed from the worst record in baseball - give hope to Royals and Devil Rays fans everywhere!
Congrats on a great season, thus far. And I do really like Jim Leyland.

It should be a great series. I have not paid much attention to baseball since the strike in 94. The Tigers have made it watchable again.
It sounds like you could be converted to the tigers. How can we make them seeker sensitive for you?

Here is a great article on Jim Leyland.
I grew up not to far from Perrysburg, Oh. Jim's brother Thomas and my good friend Pat who is also a catholic priest know each other. Pat has shared stories that Tom has shared regarding Jim.
What you read is true.

That's right, because you don't believe in the Wild Card, right? :basic05

I'm trying to fell better, but I'm not making alot of headway here. The doc came very close to putting me back in the hosp. last Thursday for my white blood count was 20 instead of 8-9, indicating that infection was still going on. My temp. was just short of 102 degrees again, etc. Anyway, they took blood and urine samples last Thursday to be cultured to see what antibiotic will finally kill this infection centered in my prostate. I am good to get things done for about two hours, then I sit down and fall asleep. Very tired from this infection and a temp that refused to get below 99 degrees anytime.
But, I had to have some fun with the baseball season. It is not often we Tiger fans have something to cheer about. Might as well make good use of the opportunity. And you know, being as close to Chicago as we are, I am having some fun the White Sox and Cubs fans in my cong. They're enjoying it for the White Sox fans have taunted me all year about cheering for a second place team. Well, time to turn that around... We are enjoying the kidding back and forth for we know when it is all said and done, it is just a game, and at that level, played by young men who aften do not know how to behave and who are terribly overpaid for playing a game. But, such are the values of our nation and world.
Clearly you're feeling better.

That is true. I loathe the wild card. Just never has set right with me that a losing team over a 162-game season has any legitimate claim to the title "World Champions". How can you finish second and be the champion of anything?
Football, basketball, hockey, have always let losers keep playing in the post-season. Baseball only did it as a sellout to the lords of television, who are the ones who really run all sports these days. I think they ought to just make the head of the sports departments at Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC the commissioners of the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and just rotate the four jobs among the four networks sports departments every couple of seasons.

I figured if the A's were going to win one game in this series it would have been last night. Almost happened too. The fox announcers called Comerica Park "electric" and doubt that the A's can win there. I'd be happy with a sweep! :D
