Since Barbara brought up dusting and cleaning under your kitchen appliances, here's another dusting question.

How often do you dust and vacuum your whole house? Do you vacuum and dust on the same day? Do you have a schedule of house work?

I'm not sure I want to answer my own question on this one!! HA HA HA

Well, here goes. We straighten the house every morning before school. The kids clean the living room as soon as school is over -- no leftover papers or books allowed. Everything put in its place.

Well, I dust my computer desk nearly every other day by spraying compressed air and getting all the dog hair and dust away from the computer. We dust the piano every week, for the most part. The rest of the house -- well, I usually HIRE that done!!

Vacuuming? Well, we have two dogs that shed profusely!!! So we're pretty much constantly picking up dog hair in one form or another!! Brooms, vacuums, bending over to pick up a POOF of hair -- well, you get the picture!! The vacuum is almost never in its proper place because we seem to be using it all the time!!! HA HA HA

(BIG Exception: for the past month to 6 weeks I haven't done ANY housework other than the basic needs so we'll have dishes to eat from and clean clothes and towels! I've been hard at work on our redecorating project -- so, no, you are not invited for dinner!! LOL)

OK, anyone else?

(edited a bunch of times because I keep thinking of other "stuff")

I am fortunate with Brinx. He seems to go through two major shed periods a year but other than that there isn't a lot of hair.

Having seen Ebony's picture I can understand why you need to vaccum so much. When we had a Golden Retriever, vacuuming was the job that never ended.

But to answer your question.

I dust once a week. Maybe a little more in the summer when there seems to be more dust floating around. Other than when Brinx is shedding, I can usually get away with a thorough vacuuming once a week too. I do use my hand vac on the stairs more often.

And then, come winter, I have to vaccuum the rugs in the front entrance hall much more often, because of the sand that gets tracked in. (For those who live in places where you don't get snow, sand is spread on roads after ploughing in the winter, to keep the traction up) .

Hmmm....maybe I can't give a definitive answer to this question.

By the way, has anyone here tried one of those new vaccums that does it by itself. It just crawls across the carpet, vaccuuming.

I've only seen it in ads. Wonder if it works?

I usually dust & vacuum once a week. Not necessarily every room - sometimes the bedroom gets it every other week. Depends on my schedule and how full it is.

Dust balls are my best friends these days. i always know where they are - they don't borrow things and not put them back - they are quiet - they know their place - they invite more of their quiet friends to join them -

Keep on dusting, gals - one day i'll have time to do the same.

They say when you die you turn to dust. If that is so, half of Sistersville is buried under my bed. And that is all I have to say about that!

Dusting is not my favorite. I vacuum most of it with the hose attachment.

We have some good friends who own one. They have to empty the "bag" (aka: little plastic container) after every vaccuuming because it is so small. They also have a dog, which means a lot of hair in the vaccuum. Most hilarious is that their dog is terrified of it! The dog just cannot understand how this thing moves around by itself. Sometimes when we go over to their house, we ask them to vaccuum, just because it is so entertaining to watch their dog's reaction! That is terrible...

At our house, I don't dust as often as I should because dust bothers my allergies, and therefore stirring it up is an issue. I love to vaccuum though. I just like that clean feeling when it's all done. I told Ryan when we were engaged that I only needed two things to make our marriage work: a blender and a vaccuum. I got a Hoover windtunnel and a Quisinart blender/food processor and LOVE them both! I'm easy to please really... :p

I dont' like clutter so I am always picking things up. As far as dusting and vacuuming, when I have problems breathing at night cuz I am so congested, I realize it is time to dust/vacuum [both are done at the same time]. I clean the bathroom much more often than that. The kitchen I clean every night.
