Now that gardening season is over, here is something to do with those green tomatoes still on the vine. I inherited my grandmother box of recipes and so this really did come from her. I heard my dad talking about how good this was as I was growing up so this was the first recipe I looked for.

Grandma’s Green Tomato Preserve
2 qts Green Tomatoes
2 Lemons
4 Cups Sugar
Wash and cut stem ends off tomatoes. Slice thinly, then measure. Slice lemons very thin and halve slices. Mix in large bowl and leave over night. Then cook slowly with very little stirring until clear. This may require about two hours. Can while hot.
(Note from Joel; I made this once. It was very delicious but mine turned out very thin. It may need some pectin.)
