One of the suggestions this week was the discussion of scripture or a particular verse that has spoken to us recently.

My pastor has been doing a series on "The Road to Calvary" a few weeks ago, this scripture jumped out at me.

John 19:26-27

When Jesus therefore saw His Mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, He said to his Mother, "Woman, behond your son!" Then He said to the disciple, "Behold your Mother!" And from that hour the disciple took her into his own household.

This really spoke to me that Jesus while dying on the cross was making arrangements for the care of his mother.

Just think what an awful experience that day was for Mary.

I ran across this scripture too this week as I am studying the book of John in a Precepts Upon Precepts class. I meditated on this very verse for awhile and thought...

1) It's the ultimate example of helping others out even in the midst of your own turmoil.

2) Jesus was not focused on Himself as He hung there in unspeakable pain.

3) We all need to make the best decision possible when taking care of an elderly or sick parent (or any other family member). This is obviously a given, but some do neglect.

4) Jesus IS...He just IS....He IS....so thoughtful...the Great I AM!
