I did not think a person with a criminal conviction could cross the boarder from the USA into Canada... I know those with records from Canada can not cross over to the US side.

I wonder if he has committed any crimes in Canada. I wonder if anyone will cheque that? Then we could exile him back to the US. :basic05

Of course the really interesting thing is that, in one judge's mind anyway, three years in Canada is equivalent to one year in jail.

Hmmmmm....

That means that, so far, I've done about 16 years in jail :)

I don't see how the judge can do that. If, by some fluke, because his wife and children have Canadian Citizenship he is claiming some sort of Canadian status then I hope Canada does bar him from entry. I view it as an insult to Canada and to the US judicial system and the judge needs to be looked at seriously.

The guy is an American Citizen who already lives in Canada with his Canadian wife and children (just across from Buffalo, NY).

Lawyers in the case, too, questioned what the Canadian side may do about the situation now that he is a convict....

Canada is now taking action to keep him out. Maybe he will have to stay in the middle of the bridge for 3 years. At least we will know where he is.

Maybe the Canadian border guards were not there as was the case when I came back last time with 56 kids on a bus. We had to go look for them!
None of the 2 guards wanted to process the paper work for the bus! Cause they were too busy! WHAT?

So maybe he just walked through...
