My friend Larry George was found this morning in bed, dead. He died of a heart attack. He was over 350 pounds and only 48 years old. He refused to go to the doctors, he refused to diet. He refused. Now his refusal has ended up with him leaving a wife and four teenage children alone.

I feel he caused his own death. Lovelingly his wife and family tried to get him to understand what he was doing to himself, but to no avail. How this could have been prevented. You see, in his younger years he was a health fanatic. Veggies and fruits lean meats all the right stuff and exercise. I don't know what tripped him up but now I am more determined than ever not to be fat at 50.

May God be with his family during this time of need.

Ah Barbara. I'm sorry. The battle against our weight is a HUGE one that I think almost every adult struggles with at some point.

I know that at one point as adults we all struggle with weight issues, I have all my life struggled with that issue. It is a moment by moment struggle for some. I didn't mean to come across wrong. I apologize if I did so.

You didn't come across wrong at all, hon.

i know that i meant my post as an encouragement to you and any others (including myself) who struggle in this area. i am sure Sara meant it as an encouragement, too.

i don't think you have offended.

Y'all, it is very hard to bury a friend your own age. I don't know how Pastors and the clerics of this world do it all the time. My nerves are raw tonight. I don't have time to grieve the way I want cuz I'm working. Like Scarlette, it just have to wait for another day.

Thanks.

NO OFFENSE...I meant it as an understanding. In other words, at any time, many of us could be in that situation, I'm just so sorry it appears your friend has lost his battle.

I am sad for you to lose a friend. You are such a good friend.

Barb, I am so sorry. Allow yourself time to grieve. I buried a friend my age several years ago. My friend Linda died suddenly from meingitis. She went to the dr. not feeling well on a Thursday and by Monday was dead. I was devastated. I am sorry for your grief.
