This past Tuesday, I took advantage of the daylight hours and did some hiking at a state park about 30 minutes from home. Motivated in large part by the newly acquired D50, we spent the day looking for new images for the photo library. I've selected several shots from the day to post.

In this first batch, the first four show the colors along the trail. The fifth shot is from the base of "Hanging Rock". The last of this set is the view from the top looking toward the northwest.

I wanna go there & see some of those sites!
But I could not hike, I'm afraid. My knee is just isn't in good enough shape.
Maybe next year, after I have the replacement.

I sure do miss being able to hike.
It is great to see the sights in a "virtual" manner though.

Thanks again.

Belinda, you have worded my feelings so well, I have sat many times and wanted to express my feelings about all of the photography so many present and I cannot find the words.
Especially "I want to see so much so badly".
I have always wanted to visit the British Isles, but since seeing all of these pictures of the U.S., I have changed my mind.
Thankfully we have traveled some in the U.S, but I have never been to the state of Washington or Oregon. I plan to be in Oregon as soon as our friend has settled in the spring.
Thanks for your note.!!!

Love the pictures, David! I see you tried to make the shutter time on the river and waterfall as long as possible. The effect is worth it! Did you still shoot by hand or did you use a tripod?

All were by hand except the last set, #1 and #6. Lower Cascade Falls was at the end of the day, and I was beginning to get tired and a bit more shaky. Number 5 on the last set was the only one of five handheld attempts that turned out clear. That was when I called for Bethany (my daughter who appears in two of the images) to bring me the tripod.

I enjoy shooting scenes where motion and still can be captured in the same image. Streams and waterfalls are excellent places to experiment with this concept.
