Good series for the Cardinals.
I think the youth of the Tigers finally caught up with them, especially given the fact that the usual hitters forgot how to hit the ball.
We know the pitching staff is in good shape for a few years, so on to next year and we'll see what happens. It was a good year, loosing the series doesn't spoil that.
P.S. I also had this written in the 9th and had to hold off waiting to see if the Tigers could get those runners around to score, but alas, twas not to be.

Sad to see the Tigers loose. Glad that IF the Cards had to win, they did it in St. Louis. Congratulations!

Baseball and the 2nd coming ................
Was sure hoping Detroit could pull it off, tho' after last game's win leaving such an unbalanced slate, wasn't too sure. Think I know some lurker here -- well, at least her name's on the members' list with zero posts -- who's probably rather happy. In fact, I was wondering if she might even have gone down to StLouis for some of this series.
Hi, G! ;)
Wes ... and Barb B ... don't know as if you'd have to give 2007 reasons ... seems the last one that did that used only the last two digits of the year: "88 reasons why it was to be in '88." So, perhaps you'd have it easy ... only have to think of "07 reasons why it will be '07." HA! ;)
Naw, better yet ... just forget it ... some prophet! Prophesying in the last inning, before the last out ... my, my, MY! what foresight, Wes! hee-hee-heeeee :basic05
OOPS! I see I posted this in a different thread than the one where the "prophecy" was, as I had several threads open at once. Oh, well ................. ;)

I really did not care who wont his year. I am just glad that no one was hurt because of the bad weather, the cold in Detroit and all the rain in St. Louis. I am in Baltimore which once had a great baseball heritage years ago. Our one claim to baseball fame right now is waiting for Cal Ripken Jr. to go into The Hall of Fame.

'Guess I did for a change. I've not found myself yelling at the TV since I can't really remember when. ;)

I thoroughly enjoyed the Series. I guess I was one of the 237 fans nationwide who watched it, at least according to the Nielsen ratings. Oh, well.
I do think the youth of the Tigers and the experience of the Cardinals showed. Neither team hit particularly well. The Tigers...the inexperienced team...found ways to lose. The Cardinals...the more experienced team...found ways to win.
As a fan of the game as well as one team, I feel bad for you Detroiters on here. But take heart. Jim Edmonds is old and hurting. Scott Rolen is aging. Mark Mulder may never be the same pitcher he was before. So, to, Isringhausen. For the Cards, this was probably their last best chance to win a title with this group of guys.
For Detroit, except for Rogers and Rodriguez, your future is still ahead of you. You've got great young pitching that's still getting better, and a solid lineup that should be productinve for a while yet. You should get a few more bites at the apple with this core group of players.
Not a "classic" Series in any sense of the word, but I still love seeing the guys in red hoisting that trophy!

Harrah for the little guy, David Eckstein, who is close to my size and plays the infield as I did over 50 years ago, which was just after ball gloves were invented. I think Molina was a good possibility for MVP as well as he hit way above his seasonal average and got on base for Eckstein to bring him home. I enjoyed the series and wish each team well for the coming season.
