This monument is located in Trenton where our church is found, just a few blocks up the street. They hold Remembrance Day service there and in all towns in Canada on Remembrance Day. It is made up of members of the Royal Canadian Legion, veterans families, clergy, cadets, and local citizens.
With a special service, Remembrance Day is a special time (usually 1 hour) ending with one minute silence at 12pm to honor our veterans.
In the background is a railway plant owned by Greenbier, an American Company. Because of the Canadian dollar being so high now, they have laid off all the workers and have tendered work to Mexico, and other areas. Even though the plant is particially closed now, Greenbier was the most effecient company so far to run this plant and provided steady employment until the Canadian dollar began to rise to almost at par with the American dollar, therefore causing it not to compete with outside cheap help in other countries. Various rail cars were made there, not just box cars. During wartime, gun barrels were made at this plant.
