that Moody is going to have HD Radio? They will have one station with all inspirational music, another with all sermons from times like Founders Week, and maybe another station or two besides those. I think they said an HD transmitter costs about 300,000 dollars. It sure sounds neat!
The transmitter they have now is 17 years old, and the backup is nearly 30 years old, and they say the life expectancy of a transmitter is about 10 years! Guess its about time!
Have you had any experience with this? I dont think I have heard of any other station doing this.

Correction, maybe I should call them signals, not stations!

Well the technology is there, but not only does the station have to have a new transmitter, but you have to have a HD radio to listen to the HD signal. I think stations are bundling their regular analog signal with multiple HD signals for now.

It is definately the future of radio -- on HD the signal is as clear as a CD being played and it will let each radio station broadcast multiple signals, as Moody is doing, with different programming.

When it kicks in, it will give satellite radio a real run for its money.

Do I understand people when they say you can get a pretty cheap HD radio at radio shack? And do I understand you that some radio stations have this capability but havent separated their signals yet to have one analog and one HD? (Sorry, not as expert as you.)
