I can officially start getting excited about Christmas. I've been able to start my shopping for the girls and enjoy wandering through the aisles of Christmas decorations in the stores.

i've been starting to get excited about Christmas for about a month now! :D i've ogled my Christmas decorations while getting the fall/halloween decorations down, wandered the aisles of the trees & ornaments at the stores (when my husband doesn't know!) and begun checking the 2 radio stations that do 24/7 Christmas music to see if they've started yet! (last year, one of them started November 1st)
i've got a large portion of my shopping done already, and have a pretty good plan in my head of what the rest of it will be :) i Love Christmas!

Jen...you are a woman after my own heart :-)
One of my problems with my kids getting older is that they ask for smaller gifts. I miss the days of the huge doll houses and play kitchens under the tree.
DVD's, perfume, books, clothing...not as exciting.
I look forward to when I can shop for grandchildren.

I grew up in a big family. At one time 14 of us lived together in Grandpa's house and Christmas Eve was the big event. There would be 40 of us for Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchanges.
Now, I buy for two people. The last two Christmases Stephen was in Iraq so my shopping was very limited and had to be mailed by Nov. 10th.
This year Stephen will be home with us, but that man needs NOTHING. He has enough clothes for 4 men.
So, what we are doing is spending a night in St. Louis. The guys are going to a Rams Monday Night Football game.(I will NOT tell you how much those tickets cost Stephen! but they are his birthday and Christmas present to himself and his Christmas gift to his dad) We will eat at our favorite St. Louis places and the next morning go to the Science Center SportsWorks where I will watch the men act like little boys.
So, that trip is our basic Christmas gift to each other, but there will be a few gifts under the tree for Christmas morning...or Christmas Eve if I give in to my little boy. LOL
I decorate because I have to. John would decorate every room and even help the people next door decorate. With Stephen home it is more fun to decorate.
I look forward to the time Stephen is married and has childen. That will make Christmas more fun for me.

Christmas is so much fun when you have grandchildren. However, I must say it would be a lot more fun if I didn't have to ship the presents and could be there to see their expressions when they open them.

We have stations here that play 24/7 but they don't start until the end of November.
BTW, I have a sister named Beth and a brother named Brian :-)

Well, my sister and I are in our 30's and still ask for that kind of stuff. Just imagine if we asked for the big, exciting stuff we really wanted... it would be waaay too expensive. Ha-ha!! We joke about her wanting a husband for Christmas and me wanting good health. :basic03
